Description

This Buckwheat is quite possibly the hardiest plant in the Native Roots line. Often overlooked as an accent and never as a solution to the problem, you really should give it a try! Blooming for more than 4 months out of the year with clear yellow globe-shaped flowers is just one claim to fame. The nicely-rounded, compact habit is so uniform it appears to have been stamped out, not grown. It flourishes in the tightest, heaviest, most alkali soils, and is an excellent choice for many tough applications from roadside restoration to parking lot islands and traffic medians. It doesn’t like a lot of foot traffic, but the long, gray-green, leathery leaves will take a beating while it’s deep roots hold the soil. Prefers coarse to medium clay soils, but will grow in slightly acidic well-drained soils as well.
  • Drought Tolerant: yes
  • Flower Color: yellow
  • Mature Height: 10-12″ tall, 12-15″ spread
