Description
This cool-season clump-forming grass spreads quickly by shallow rhizomes in moist to wet soils and is perfect for stabilizing streambanks. Adaptable to various soil types, 2-5′ tall. Long lived and very hardy. Tan flower plumes in June and July persist in to fall/winter. Historically the Bluejoint Reedgrass was an important food source for bison and is also grazed by deer and elk. In the landscape it is best to prune back in the spring.
