Description
An extremely salt tolerant, hardy upright grass forming dense stands, 12-18″ tall. Commonly found in salt marshes along the coastline, but also found much farther inland. Excretes excess salt through tiny glands on the leaves, forming as small crystals. Tolerates some seasonal flooding but prefers drier conditions in general. An important food source for geese and other waterfowl, and as a reclamation species, but not very popular in landscapes scenarios.
