Description
A new one for us as of Spring 2025!! This slow-grower does best in sun or partly shaded areas, along forest edges. It averages 4-5′ tall, and in very shady spots can get somewhat leggy and approximately 8′ tall with leathery egg-shaped leaves. Found in the mountains along the western side of the Cascades as far north as coastal British Columbia and as far south as the Redwoods in California. Small pink urn-shaped blooms in April and May are followed by red-to-purple edible berries in August and September. Habitat is common to understory shrub; moist, acidic soil coniferous forests and open areas. The Evergreen Huck is enjoyed not only by humans, but also by bees, bugs, birds, butterflies and -of course- BEARS enjoy them, too!! We grow ours from seed here at the nursery and are excited to be able to offer another of these little gems to you!!
